The W+ centrifugal pump range consists of 15 standard models with pressure and flow capacities up to15 bar and 450 m3/h. The individual pump models each have a number referring to the pressure and capacity levels at which the pump has its best efficiency point. For instance the W+ 35/55 has its best efficiency point at a differential pressure of 35 m.w.g and a capacity of 55 m3 (at 50 Hz).
PUMP FEATURES – Except for the very smallest models, all the APV W+ pumps are based upon an APV patented design which incorporates the volute (the pump housing’s spiral shaped passage) in the pump’s back plate. This in combination with an ideal outlet geometry, optimizes energy utilization inside the pump housing. This in turn, leads to a whole series of advantages: High efficiency levels with reduced energy consumption, low noise levels and improved product integrity.
STANDARD DESIGN – The W+ pump range complies with the most stringent hygiene demands and are designed for CIP/SIP cleaning. The standard shaft seal is a single mechanical type with a rotating ring of silicon carbide, a carbon stationary ring and O-rings in EPDM. The seal is balanced and has a long service life. For applications with flushing or aseptic use with a barrier medium, a single shaft seal may easily be rebuilt into a double seal by means of two identical seals and an adapter. Standard high efficiency motors, to which the pump is close-coupled are IEC-norm motors, IP 55, insulation class F. Motors are available for both 2900 and 1450 rpm (50 Hz) as well as 3500 and 1750 rpm (60 Hz). W+ pumps are fitted with a stainless steel motor shroud and supported on stainless steel legs with adjustable ball feet. Alternatively, they may be fitted with brackets for bolting direct to a skid or base plate.
The impeller shaft features a tapered drive for concentric impeller mounting and positive power transmission. Split sleeve clamp design for rigid mounting to motor shaft. The shaft seal features two seal sizes on all pump models. A patented cast back plate design includes volute for improved efficiency. It is heavy duty for increased strength and durability. Computer designed volute lowers forces on impellers and reduces bearing wear. The casing gasket features a unique grooved design retains O-ring on back plate which improves cleanability. The impeller is balanced to minimize vibration and extend seal life. It is computer designed for high efficiency, minimal recirculation, and low axial loads for longer motor bearing life. The casing is circular to enhance cleanability and air handling capability.
APV W+pumps ensure maximum efficiency and reduce noise and vibration levels to an absolute minimum. The W+pump series consists of 16 standard models with pressure and flow capacities from 0.5 bar to 15 bar and 2 to 450 m3/h. The individual W+pump models each have a number referring to the pressure and capacity levels at which the pump has its best efficiency point. For instance, the W+ 35/55 has its best efficiency point at a differential pressure of 35 m water gauge and a capacity of 55 m3/h.
For high differential pressures we recommend the W+ 140/50 multistage pump which generates pressures up to 15 bar. See below.
APV Fluid Handling’s multi-stage pump is a centrifugal pump suitable for applications which require high pressures. The 3-stage pump generates pressures up to 15 bar, and the 2-stage version up to 10 bar (50 Hz) and is therefore commonly used in applications such as high pressure filtration and reverse osmosis processes.
PUMP FEATURES – The pump has open impellers fitted on a stout shaft which is cantilevered out from a bearing bracket. A flexible coupling is used for power transmission from the motor to the pump shaft. The pump, including bearing bracket and motor, is mounted on a stainless steel base plate. APV W+140/50 pumps are based upon one of APV’s well known W+ pumps which optimizes energy utilization inside the pump housing. This, in turn, leads to a whole series of advantages: High efficiency levels with reduced energy consumption, low noise levels and improved product integrity.
PRESSURE RATINGS – The W-140/50 is intended for operation at 3500 rpm with pressures to 870 psig (60 bar). Two-stage W-140/50 pumps with maximum size impellers produce flow rates to 400 US gpm (91m3/hr) and shut off heads of 500 ft (152 m). The three stage pump delivers a maximum shut off head of 800 ft (244m) dependant on a maximum 60 hp power limitation.
STANDARD DESIGN – The W+ pump range complies with the most stringent demands for hygiene and are designed for CIP/SIP (clean/sterilize in place). The standard shaft seal is a single mechanical type with a rotating ring of silicon carbide, a carbon stationary ring and O-rings in EPDM. The seal is balanced and has a long service life. For applications with a flushed seal or aseptic applications with a barrier medium, a pump with a single shaft seal may easily be rebuilt into a double seal version. Standard high efficiency motors, to which the pump is flexibly coupled, are IEC-standard motors, IP 55, insulation class F. Motors are available for both 2900 and 1450 rpm (50 Hz) as well as 3500 and 1750 rpm (60 Hz).
MATERIALS – All product contact-parts are made of austenitic stainless steel (1.4404) AISI 316L. The standard shaft seal elastomer is EPDM, but a number of other elastomers which also meet FDA requirements are available as options.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE – The pump is designed to make maintenance simple. A complete installation and service manual, is delivered with the pump.
FITTINGS – W+140/50 pumps can be delivered complete with unions, flanges or clamp connections according to DS, ISO, DIN, BS and SMS standards or without fittings (for direct welding into the pipe line).
