CHOOSING THE CORRECT FLOORING
I. CHEMICAL CONTAMINANTS:
A. Give liquid concentrations
B. Splash, Spill or Immersion?
(Does the floor drain well? Are we doing a trench? Will the chemicals set on the floor for a long time?)
II. THERMAL SHOCK (TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL)
A. Is the area outdoors or indoors?
B. Is the area cleaned with hot water or other hot solutions?
C. Is the area cleaned with high pressure steam?
D. Is the process spillage on the floor hot?
E. How often does B, C or D occur?
III. HOUSEKEEPING
A. How often is the area cleaned? Be realistic.
B. Is there an automatic flush?
IV. TRAFFIC
A. Light Duty? (no cutting action – foot traffic or light carts)
B. Medium Duty? (rubber wheeled equipment and heavy foot traffic)
C. Heavy Duty? (steel wheeled vehicles often on the floor or constant fork lift traffic)
V. WORKING CONDITIONS
A. Cold temperatures during installation?
B. Moisture present during installation?
C. Short downtime availability?
